Jocelyn Nicole Johnson
Jocelyn Nicole Johnson is the author of My Monticello, a fiction debut that was called "a masterly feat" by the New York Times and placed third on Time Magazine's best fiction of the year. My Monticello won the Library of Virginia Fiction Award, was a finalist for a National Book Critics Circle Award, among many other honors. A fellow at Tin House, Hedgebrook, and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Johnson's writing appears in Best American Short Stories, Guernica, The Guardian and elsewhere. A veteran public-school art teacher, Johnson lives in Charlottesville
Virginia LeBaron
Virginia is a nurse and writer of poetry and non-fiction. Her poetry collection, Care, a reckoning, was a finalist for the 2025 St. Lawrence Book Award. She is faculty at the UVA School of Nursing and lives with her family and an adorable Supermutt in Charlottesville, Virginia where she dreams of one day having an animal rescue farm.
Virginia Moore
Growing up in Rockbridge County, VA, surrounded by professional artists,Virginia developed an early and deep love for landscape painting. After graduating with an BA in Painting from UVA in 2007, she moved west to Wyoming and Canada where she studied plein air painting with several renowned artists, was a resident at the Jentel Artist Residency, exhibited regularly and won awards for her work. She now lives in Chamonix, France with her husband and two children. After several years focused on her young children, she is returning to her art practice full of new ideas and energy.
Millian Giang Pham
Millian Pham received her BFA in painting and printmaking from the Universityof Tulsa in Oklahoma and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Florida. Her visual research has been exhibited nationally and internationally inCanada, Pakistan, Korea, and across the United States. Pham was a resident for the I-Park Artist Enclave, the Hambidge Art Center, ACRE, Santa Fe Art Institute, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Connect International Residency,and Pollinator Coop. She is currently the Studio Art Foundations Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Art at Auburn University in Alabama.
Shane Powers
My name is Shane Powers, born and raised in western Pennsylvania. I live and work as an emerging artist in West New York, New Jersey. I studied fine art through a summer intensive program at the School of Visual Arts and received a BFA in Display and Exhibition design at The Fashion Institute of Technology, both in New York City. I work out of a studio in my home where I have committed to an art practice after working as a creative professional for twenty-five years. I am also a practicing astrologer.
Sam Sharpe
I was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, and received a BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design in 2006. With a small arts grant from the City of Chicago, I published the first issue of my comic series, Viewotron, in 2011. Subsequent issues have been nominated for two Ignatz Awards, an Eisner Award and excerpted in Best American Comics. I’ve spent the last decade working on a graphic memoir, titled Mom: A Story of Love and Mental Illness, which will be published by 23rd St Books (MacMillian). I teach at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago.
Haley Grunloh
Haley Grunloh is an artist from New Haven, Connecticut. She earned her BFA from Pratt Institute and a certificate in science illustration from California State University Monterey Bay. She works professionally as an illustrator, focusing on educational projects that support science communication and public engagement. Her clients have included Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation.
Ian Shank
Ian is a member of the expository writing faculty at Harvard College, where he has taught since 2021. He also teaches a variety of literature and creative writing classes at the Harvard Extension School, including a survey course on the work of George Saunders, a humor writing workshop, and a seminar about unreliable narrators. His writing has been published in McSweeney’s, The Los Angeles Review of Books, DIAGRAM, Art & Object, Atlas Obscura, and Artsy, among other publications. He holds an MFA from the University of Iowa and BA degrees in History and Italian Studies from Brown University.
Emily Hornsby
Emily Hornsby is a television writer and producer from Charlottesville, Virginia. After starting out as an assistant to the showrunners, Emily rose through the ranks and went on to write and produce on three seasons of Showtime’s hit series Billions. She also served as a Producer on Showtime’s Super Pumped:The Battle for Uber. She has produced her scripts on set in New York, Los Angeles, and London. Emily got her BA from Princeton University, where she majored in Religion. Recently, she has turned her attention towards prose writing and is working on her first novel.
Samuel Leone
Samuel Leone was born in 2003 in Schenectady, NY, and is a visual artist based between New York City and Charlton, NY. Leone is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology, with an expected graduation in Spring 2026. Leone is also an alumnus of the Mount Gretna School of Art. He has presented three solo exhibitions of work made en plein air, including two at Main Street Studios in Charlton, NY, and a windowfront Artist of the Month exhibition at Blick Art Materials in Chelsea, NY. Leone’s practice is an exploration of the genre of en plein air, an attempt to negotiate authorship between self, the environment, and conditions of chance that actively shape the work. Paintings emerge from encounters with specific sites and develop through an exchange between Leones decisions and the forces imposed by the environment.
Jennifer Jurlando
Jennifer Jurlando is a Richmond-based poet and death worker. She is co-founder of the Chesterfield Poetry Collective, an adjunct instructor at VCU,and active in Richmond’s death community. Her writing on loss, survival, and worth has been published online at RVA Magazine and in the anthologies, Unspoken: Writers on Infertility, Miscarriage, and Stillbirth, and Nine Lives: A Life in Ten Minutes Anthology. She can be found around the state hosting mock home funerals, death cafes, and open mic nights.
Kim Fox
Kim Fox earned her BFA in Printmaking from the College of Charleston, SC, in1994. Her childhood in rural Western Pennsylvania informs her aesthetic, subject matter and choice of materials. Her work has been shown in Pittsburgh, PA, Providence, RI, Wheeling, WV, and Brooklyn, NY; She recently had work included in the exhibit “Stitching the Revolution: Quilts As Agents of Change” at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, CT and was included in the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts “Artist as Quiltmaker XX” - the second longest running art quilt exhibition in the world.
